Zeigler Auto Group Celebrates 2026 Women’s History Month with Stories of Leadership, Innovation, and Mentorship

Zeigler Auto Group Celebrates Women's History Month

with Stories of Leadership, Innovation, and Mentorship

Kalamazoo, Michigan (Mar 10, 2026) - Zeigler Auto Group is proud to celebrate Women's History Month by highlighting the remarkable women who have helped shape the dealer group's success over the last 50 years. From sales and service to finance and corporate operations--women across Zeigler are demonstrating the power of mentorship, opportunity, and a world-class culture that prioritizes professional and personal growth.

"What makes Team Zeigler a place where women can truly thrive is the support system. There are so many strong, inspiring women across theorganization who are always willing to mentor, offer advice, and support one another. No matter the role, there's usually someone you can look to for guidance," said Jaylan Dunn, BDC Manager at Zeigler Subaru of Schererville.

"I've also never felt unheard, and it's incredibly encouraging to see women represented in a wide range of leadership positions. That kind of visibility and support creates an environment where women feel empowered to grow and succeed."

This sentiment has long been echoed and supported by Zeigler's belief that investing in its team should go beyond basic training. In fact, the organization has consistently earned awards for employee satisfaction for its ongoing efforts to provide learning and development opportunities through its own multi-faceted platform: Zeigler University.

Under the Zeigler University umbrella, Zeigler offers an industry-leading guest speaker series, extensive curriculums on a wide range of topics, and various specialized leadership academies.

A Vision of Growth and Leadership

In 2024, that vision for specialized training and support further expanded to officially include a new program designed specifically for female leaders to share their experiences and learn from each other. Spearheaded by Ariah Daniels, head of Culture and Talent Development, Zeigler University launched the Women Leaders of ZAG, a virtual leadership forum that connects women from various departments across the four states where Zeigler has operations.

Although Zeigler was already providing opportunities for talented women throughout the organizatoin-with women holding leadership positions for years before it was the norm in the industry-Daniels knew more could be done. She understood that women leaders had unique challenges, experiences, and perspectives that would further Zeigler's world-class culture.

Pulling from her experience growing Zeigler University over the last four years, alongside her mentor and VP of Talent Development Mike Van Ryn, she put out a call to help bring her vision to life. From there a small group of leaders brainestormed and landed on how the series would work. Every other month they would meet online with a new female leader guiding the call on topics relevant to their experiences.

The group's first call: Empowerment: Permission to Thrive! was led by Daniels in May 2024, followed by Pillars of Success, led by the group's Director of Security Karianne Thomas in July. Daniels counts Thomas' session among her favorites along with Sheri Teodoro's session on Imposter Syndrome.

"My biggest piece of advice is to come into the industry with confidence and curiosity," said Daniels. "Automotive is an incredibly dynamic field with opportunities in sales, leadership, operations, service, marketing, and finance. Don't let outdated stereotypes hold you back."

Mentorship and Support

Having this support unique to women in the organization has supplemented Zeigler's already robust systems for leadership training across the board. These programs built specifically for mentorship have not only helped build a stronger foundation for leaders, it has also provided up-and-coming talent with the mentorship needed to thrive.

Anna Steinhubel credits mentorship, confidence and initiative as core principles for her growth. "Being a woman leader at Team Zeigler means having the platform to inspire and even mentor future leaders within our group. By leading with purpose and pride, we can pave the way for others, often in ways we don't even realize. My goal is to truly inspire others to want to rise within ZAG and lead with empathy, passion and dedication."

Besides offering mentorship herself, Steinhubel also believes her success has come from others mentoring her throughout the years. "Don't forget to find a mentor you can rely on, as well as a support system within your group. Having others to turn to for guidance, or just to even a listening ear, is important for reducing self-doubt and maintaining your spark!"

Through Zeigler's network of support many have found a community in the workplace which has allowed them to step out of their comfort zones and grow.

Brandi Deal, Office Manager and Controller at Zeigler Ford Lincoln of Elkhart, says these initiatives have created meaningful connections she might not have otherwise made. "Team Zeigler women support each other more than any organization I have worked for before," said Deal. "Being part of the Zeigler Group and taking full advantage of what the organization offers is truly the best way to thrive. The opportunities are there and fully provided by Team Zeigler. You just have to want it and go for it."

As Service Director at Zeigler Subaru of Lafayette, Karalee Sollars is one of many leaders that has benefited from Zeigler's growth initiatives throughout the years. "The Zeigler organization is unlike any other when it comes to their commitment to support the growth of their employees. I have been given the opportunity to participate in and attend Guest Speaker sessions, multiple Jim Craig Workshops, the Gold Medal Strategies Coaching Calls, the Aspiring Leaders Academy, as well as their NADA Academy classes. The group just doesn't stop when it comes to their ongoing development initiative."

Taking her experience even further, she hopes to continue to provide support to young women wanting to take the next steps in their career. "My hope is that any bit of impact I can make on young women entering this industry comes from being someone that they can turn to for positive influence and by sharing my experience as an example for what can be so great about this business. I hope to be an example for how it really doesn't matter whether the industry is male-dominated, if you show up every day with the right mindset and your best foot forward."

Lindsey Myers, Controller at Zeigler Ford and Chrysler of Plainwell, knows how impactful mentorship can be, and has become a mentor for many in her own right. "Receiving mentorship had a significant impact on shaping me into the leader I am today. My mentor helped me grow both personally and professionally by building my confidence and helping me define the kind of leader I want to become…The most meaningful part of my role now is watching our team grow, develop confidence and succeed together."

Breaking Barriers with Automotive Careers

For Candace Rabourn, a sales professional at Zeigler Grandville, her journey into automotive began unexpectedly after completing her master's degree and being accepted into a doctorate program. Her brother Ted encouraged her to give sales a try. "I remember telling him I didn't know anything about cars, and he said, 'That's fine, you love people and their stories. The car part will come.' He was right…While automotive is still a male-dominated field, I've also seen firsthand how powerful mentorship and support can be. Being a woman in this industry means showing up with empathy, curiosity, and confidence, qualities that often help build trust with clients and teammates alike."

Daniels also started her career in automotive in an unconventional way. Although she was working as a part-time cashier for Zeigler 18 years ago, she was earning her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene at the time. After graduating, her curiosity about the automotive business grew, and despite having no formal industry training, she embraced the opportunities given to her to learn and grow by taking advantage of Zeigler's extensive in-house training and promote-from-within culture. Eventually she grew into positions which included Internet Manager and Finance Manager, among others. Her career took a pivotal turn when she was invited by Van Ryn to join the Corporate Recruiting and Training team. Having been a shining example of how training can make a difference, she was able to help implement guidelines for best-in-practice recruitment, talent development and support through Zeigler University.

"Programs like Zeigler University, and our focus on continuous learning, provide opportunities for women to build skills, step into leadership roles, and make a meaningful impact. What truly makes the difference is the culture-people are invested in each other's success, and that support empowers women to thrive and lead with confidence."

Although Jessica Wallace-Uckele, Corporate Recruiter for Zeigler, had a background in corporate training and management, after her move back to Boston, she was in between jobs when she applied for a position. She had never worked in the automotive industry but she took advantage of the training programs that Zeigler offers across the board. "I came into the industry on a fluke, actually. I had just moved back from Boston, and I was in-between corporate jobs, doing a quick bartending gig - on rollerskates! I met a dealer principal who was shocked and overjoyed to hear I came from corporate training and management, and I joined the team as an independent contractor and trainer; my role as Human Resources Director followed shortly thereafter. The people keep me here!"

Driven By A Growth & Support Mindset

Mallory Schierbeek, Internet Manager at Grandville Chrysler, started as an intern while in college. While she was learning about sales and the automotive industry, she quickly realized how much she loved the pace and the people. "Every day is different, which keeps things exciting. What has kept me here is the culture and the opportunity for growth. Zeigler really invests in its employees and gives you the training and support to build a career… Don't give up, take chances, and don't be afraid to speak up. Some of the best opportunities come from being willing to push yourself and try something new."

This sentiment was echoed by countless others including Madision Hoagland, Love Promise Coordinator at Zeigler Subaru of Fort Wayne, who says the training and support she has received has made all the difference. "I was initially driven by a new start and a new path. I have stayed because it has grown me more as a person personally and professionally in two years than anything before. I absolutely love what I do. I have endless possibilities and endless training."

Cindy Boliaux, a long-time automotive industry veteran and now Controller at Jaguar Land Rover of Schaumburg, saw first-hand how you can always come back to the right company after taking personal time off. After having her second daughter and being away for seven years, she was able to tap into her established support network and get back to what she loved doing the most. "I like the fact that Zeigler supports your growth. If you truly want to be a leader, they will guide you in your journey until you're ready to be on your own. There's always such great support from other leaders as well, along the way… When I made the move to run the Schaumburg Chrysler office, that was a big deal for me.  I was so thankful to have Chryl Procarione support me along in my journey and although it was sad we weren't going to work in the same office together; I was so ready to be on my own.  I wasn't scared, I didn't have regrets, I was just ready to have my time to shine.  It was the best move I made for myself as a person and my growth as a leader."

Inspiring the Next Generation

Traci Brubaker, Corporate Recruiter, began her career in sales in 2011 when female sales professionals were rare. Today Brubsaker uses her role as recruiter and her experience as a salesperson to provide insight to those wanting to take a chance on themselves. "It was scary to leap to commission only. So many people in our lives tell us that is not smart to do. "You have to work hourly" and be able to count on what you make. I knew I could sell and loved helping people. I listened and I learned... and I LOVED it… I love speaking to people who have never sold cars and watch them take the chance. To watch them flourish is so rewarding. Many people have changed their lives, including myself, in the car business."

As the main shop advisor at Zeigler Subaru of Lafayette, Jennifer Scott has seen first hand how she is able to directly help so many people in her department and beyond. "We need to be present and lift each other up. There is enough space to encourage and cheer on others while cheering on ourselves! I have trained new advisors, and I hear other advisors "copy or mimic" some of my references and selling style. It is flattering!" Although she understands work isn't without challenges, she appreciates the space for growth the organization provides. "It is hard being a woman in a man's business, but I am proud to be where I am. We need to toot our own horn from time to time and appreciate what we have accomplished. It is a badge of honor! This is the third auto company I have worked with and it is by far my favorite!

Chryl Procarione, Corporate Recruiter, says she didn't have trouble adjusting to a male-dominated field because of her military experience. For her the the most important thing has been collaboration and taking ownership of the position you're in, especially if the culture is built on trust. "Working with men and women is about finding the common goal of the team and working for the team, not the gender of the other teammate. From the moment I started at Zeigler, the one thing I noticed right away is that I was allowed to lead my team and manage my department. I was trusted that my knowledge and leadership would get the job done."  If she could offer one piece of advice to those looking to work in the industry it would be: "Never stop developing yourself. Don't be afraid to ask for help and never be afraid to help others. Research where you want to work, develop relationships with strong men and women who can help guide you. Follow your gut."

Leading Towards The Future

Across all departments, roles, and locations, the women at Zeigler Auto Group are leading the way towards shaping the future of the automotive industry.  Ashley Clement, Service Manager at Jaguar Land Rover Schaumburg, hopes to continue to inspire women to seek out roles in the industry. "As a woman in the automotive industry, I'm proud to contribute to a workplace that supports and elevates women. I hope the work I do today helps inspire and pave the way for the next generation of women entering this field. My advice to women considering a career in automotive is simple: don't be intimidated-this industry needs your perspective, leadership, and ideas. Zeigler is a place where women can truly thrive because it encourages growth, supports strong leadership, and creates an environment where your voice matters."

As the Women Leaders of ZAG series continues to evolve and grow, Daniels plans to eventually do a meet up in person in the fall where everyone can connect beyond the screen. In the meantime the focus continues to be to meet people where they are in their professional journey and show them that it is possible to thrive and lead in the automotive space.

"As an automotive recruiter, one of the most important moments is the very first interview. That's where I focus on building confidence and helping women realize they absolutely belong in this industry. Many talented women come in unsure or even intimidated, but once we talk about their strengths, their potential, and my own journey, you can see the shift happen," said Karrie Gradisher, Corporate Recruiter, Zeigler Auto Group.

"Some have even told me they were nervous before our conversation but left believing they could truly succeed here. If I can help even a few women walk into this industry with confidence and the belief that they can thrive, then I know I'm making an impact. Zeigler Auto Group has incredible opportunities, and I love being someone who helps open that door."
